Getting your record expunged can change your life for the better and enable you obtain better employment, stabilize your life, and support yourself and your family. A criminal record can generally be expunged after a certain amount of time following the date that you were charged or issued the citation, were convicted, or served to the end of your sentence, including probation or parole. The best way to tell whether you can have a record expunged is to apply to the Sheriff’s department for Certificate of Eligibility for Expungement, which will tell you which records can be expunged, and which ones cannot.

Sex crimes cannot be expunged. Crimes of violent offenders cannot be expunged.
