Meet Madeleine Marshall Associate Attorney

Madeleine came on board to Mashni Law as a Law Clerk in May of 2023 and in October, transitioned to Associate Attorney.

Madeleine grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, riding horses in the local Pony Club and playing the cello in the youth orchestra. She even competed in the United States Pony Club nationals here in Lexington with her Games team, representing the South Region and Hilltoppers Pony Club. Madeleine moved from Georgia after high school and obtained one Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and another in French from Mount Holyoke College in 2016.

Between college and law school, Madeleine spent two years and three months serving as a Community Economic Development Volunteer in Peace Corps Senegal. There, she also learned Wolof, one of the official languages of Senegal.

In fall of 2020, Madeleine moved to Lexington to begin law school. For two summers, she worked as a Law Clerk with the Department of Public Advocacy’s Appeals Branch, assisting to craft briefs that would be argued in front of the Supreme Court of Kentucky. In this position, Madeleine gained valuable experience in using research to craft an effective argument as well as knowledge about what matters at the trial level from an appeals perspective. During her second summer, Madeleine also externed with the Honorable Judge Julie Goodman in Fayette Circuit Court, learning the important behind-the-scenes aspects of our judicial system.

After graduating from UK College of Law, Madeleine began as a Law Clerk here at Mashni Law while also studying for the Kentucky Bar Exam. During this time, she made court appearances on a Supervised Practice License, expanding her theoretical knowledge into practice knowledge before sitting for the bar. In the last week of September, Madeleine received her bar results – and passed! She was sworn in by the Honorable Chief Justice Van Meter in October of 2023.

Above all, Madeleine enjoys social activities, such as playing Polo at the Commonwealth Polo Club in Paris, KY. She joined the Junior League of Lexington as a provisional member of the Class of 2024.

Madeleine brings her passion for research, detail, and thoroughness to her profession – and is excited to begin career as a criminal defense attorney by providing personalized, attentive, top representation as a member of the Mashni Law Team.
