Your Kentucky Criminal Defense Team

Justin Hoskins joined the team at Mashni Law at the beginning of 2026, after already
having practiced law, specifically criminal defense, for over 16 years.

Justin was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a 2002 graduate of Tates
Creek High School, where he also played on the baseball and basketball teams. After
high school he attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky
where he was a double major, receiving degrees in both Broadcasting and History when
he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2006. From there, Justin returned to Lexington for
law school, receiving his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law
in 2009.

Eager to get into the courtroom quickly, Justin accepted a position with the Department
of Public Advocacy right out of law school and being licensed to practice in October
2009. He moved to Ashland, Kentucky, where he lived for three years while practicing
extensively in Greenup and Lewis counties. He quickly developed a passion for
representing criminal defendants, forging strong client relationships and achieving great
results in the courtroom in his early years of practice. He knew this would be his career
path.

Justin moved back to the central Kentucky area in 2012 to be closer to family. Since
then, he became one of the most experienced and tenured defense attorneys in the
DPA, practicing in counties all over the state and extensively in Clark and Madison
counties. He has handled a wide variety of criminal cases from DUI and other
misdemeanors all the way up to felony murder and everything in between. He has
represented thousands of criminal defendants over his career. He has extensive trial
experience, and has had great successes in jury trials, including an acquittal from a jury
in a case where his client was facing up to life in prison had he been convicted. Aside
from any accomplishments, Justin takes most pride in the relationships he develops
with his clients. Helping them understand what they are facing, advising them through
the process, earning their trust, negotiating on their behalf, and fighting for them when
necessary…this is what Justin is all about. We are proud to have his skill set and brand

When Justin is not in the courtroom, he is first and foremost an extremely proud and
devoted father to his twins, Aubrey and Jordan. In his free time he enjoys sports of all
varieties, has become a golf enthusiast, and is as big of a UK Athletics fanatic as you
might expect from someone born in the shadows of Rupp Arena.
